Kate Hudson has credited her stepparent Kurt Russell for raising her in a new interview.
The actress, 41, appeared on this week's Sunday Today with Willie Geist as she expressed her gratitude towards her mother Goldie Hawn's longtime partner, 69, for 'sharing what it is to have a dependable father figure in our life'.
Screen star Kate also touched on her estrangement from her biological dad Bill, 71, who Cactus Flower's Goldie, 75, was married to from 1976 until 1982.

Detailing her strong bond with the award-winning actor, the media personality enthused: 'I have a great family.
'I have a beautiful mother. I have a stepfather who stepped in and played a huge, huge part in sharing what it is to have a dependable father figure in our life. But it doesn't take away from the fact that we didn't know our dad.'
The media personality also shed light on her strained relationship with Bill, who also shares Oliver, 44, with his first spouse, Emily, 38, and Zachary, 34, with his second wife Cindy Williams, and Lalania, 14, with ex-girlfriend Caroline Graham.
'I think that estrangement is unfortunately quite common. It's a 41-year-old issue', the thespian shared.

The Almost Famous star confessed she still loves her father and is open to discussing their issues in a bid to help others who may share a similar experience.
Kate added: 'I think as I've sort of gone through that process ... I kind of look at my dad and I'm, like, 'You know, the love has never ever gone anywhere. It's always been there, no matter what those complications have been.
'And healing is... personal, and I think people sometimes just need to hear that they're not alone in that.'

The fashion entrepreneur recently admitted she has been thinking about reaching out to reconnect with Bill and his other children.
Speaking to her brother Oliver on their Sibling Revelry podcast, the Mother's Day star reflected: 'You know what I’ve been thinking about lately? Dad.
'I’ve been thinking about our sisters that we don’t spend any time with and our brother - brothers. We’ve got four siblings we don’t spend any time with.
'I was thinking about how everybody’s getting older. It would be nice to connect a little bit, especially with my sisters.'
